Velodrome offeres several
camps throughout the year
|
Youth Cycling
League
|
The
Youth
Cycling League is a Free 4-day
summer camp for junior boys and
girls 10-18 years old. Sessions
are desgined to introduce junior
bicycle riders riders to riding
and racing on the Alkek Veldrome.
Campers will learn about the
safety principles, health and
wellness benefits, and the
increased confidence in personal
and teamwork skills that can be
attained from track riding and
racing. Mostly, this camp is
all about having TONS of fun
riding bikes. A post-camp race
event will be held for all camp
participants. There are two
sessions during the summer taught
by Coach Carl Jones who has
coached 6 different national
champions. If you do not
have a track bike, the velodrome
can provide one.

New Rider
Certification
|
Several
times
throughout the year, Alkek will
hold new rider certification and
cat 4 upgrade class for first time
riders on the track. The
class lasts about 3 hours and
covers how to ride and race on a
velodrome. The 2011 dates
for these classes are
March
26,
April
30,
June,
4
and
August
3.
If
you do not have a track bike, the
velodrome can provide one.

Momentum Sprint
Camp
|
Momentum
Coaching
Group
will
host
a
three-day
sprint
camp
starting
on
Friday
evening
with
a
Free
Junior camp offered to any junior
rider/racer wishing to excel in
track riding and racing skills.
Saturday will focus on the
instruction and proper technical
improvement, and focus on tactics
for both the sprint keirin. As an
added bonus to reindorce rider
development MCG will provide camp
attendees with video analysis of
their daily workout bout during
the camp and then with a DVD for
the riders to study one the camp
as concluded. The camp will be
held on June 17, 18-19 of 2011 and
is limited to 10 riders.
