Greater Houston Cycling Foundation
For the past 20 years the Alkek Velodrome has been owned and operated by the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department. In 2007 the city will divest itself of the management and operations of the Velodrome, leasing it to a non-profit organization.
The Greater Houston Cycling Foundation (GHCF) was created to ensure the continued operation of programs at the Alkek Velodrome. The GHCF is a non-profit 501c(3) corporation that will employee the management of the Velodrome as well as oversee the continued operation of all Alkek Velodrome programs. These programs include the Youth Cycling League, the Adult Cycling League, Friday and Saturday night racing, coaching of Junior and Senior racers and fundraising activities. In the future the GHCF will promote cycling activities throughout the Greater Houston area.
