Back From Junior Track Nationals! - Thursday, August 28, 2008

The kids did great this year! We sent 11 juniors out to Los Angeles, CA and brought back a total of 20 medals and 2 national jerseys! In our youngest age category, first timer Adam Cockrell pulled off an 11th place in the 500m time trial. Moving up to the 13-14 age group, Madeleine McDuff was 9th in the 500m, Kyle Sanders was 18th in the 500m, and Ben Cockrell, after winning 2 out of his 3 events, won the omnium in the men's category. In the 15-16 men's category, Eric Rasche was 8th in the 500m, Jameson Tomlin was 10th in the 500m and Lawson Craddock was 2nd in the omnium after winning both the scratch and points race.

The 17-18 age groups are all individual, so there is no omnium at tht end. Alan Ting pulled off an amazing ride which qualified him for the gold medal round in the pursuit and won a silver medal. Trent Boyd earned his first podium spot with a 5th place medal in the sprints, while Daniel Walker took 3rd. Daniel also won the national jersey in the team sprint, while earning a silver medal in the keirin. Shelby Reynolds did a great job by snagging silver medals in the keirin, sprints and 500m.

In the Men's Madison, Eric Rasche and Trent Boyd teamed up and earned 6th place after 120 laps and the team pursuit consisting of Alan Ting, Lawson Craddock, Austin Stewart, and Jacob Rathe finished in 2nd.

A lot of personal records were broken and first time medals were won. It was a great 4 days of nail biting racing! Photos will be up shortly, courtesy of Cindy Rasche.

End of the Season - Thursday, October 25, 2007

Two weekends ago were the final races of the 2007 season at Alkek. Friday night was a success with many racers wearing their favorite jerseyes and a fun night all around. Saturday turned out to be an interesting evening with a transformer blowing across the street and our lights not coming on. So a great potluck dinner was enjoyed by flashlights and some of us were still there around 10:30 anyway! We had our make-up race Sunday morning and awards were given out. Congratulations to the following!

Daniel Walker winning the Pro 1/2s and Juniors, Ronald Huijsman winning the Cat. 3s, Chip Corbett winning the Cat. 4s, Eric Pendland winning Masters 30-39, Robert Bodamer winning Masters 40-49, Adam Ahmad winning Masters 50+, Kyle Snaders winning Juniors 10-14, Cristin Walker winning the Women 1/2/3s, Maureen Reynolds winning the Women 4s, and Shelby Reynolds winning Junior Women. Also, congrats to Northwest Cycling Club for winning the Team of the Year!

I hope everyone had a great season and I hope to see you all at the TXBRA Awards banquet for the Texas Cup awards on Nov. 17th at the Superdrome in Frisco!

The track will remain open this winter until the turnout begins to slow and if the temperature is under 40 degrees. Hope you all have a great off season and see y'all out here next year!!

Fall 2007 - Monday, September 10, 2007

Well, 3 days ago was the start of our fall season and it's lookin' good! :) We had a great turnout for our regular Friday Night Racing and on Saturday we had Collegiate Regionals. Collegiate Regionals had some great new riders (some ended up in the top 10 at Chappel Hill the next day), and some who hadn't been out to the track in a while! Looking forward to Elite Regionals this upcoming weekend!

We also had a great summer! We were motorpacing 3 days a week for the juniors and masters getting ready for nationals. The juniors came home with 6 medals and 1 jersey, and the masters came home with 5.

Elite Nationals are coming up and so far, I know of 3 people from Houston heading out to Los Angeles, CA in October. Goodluck!

Hope you have a great fall season!

The Start of 2007 - Thursday, April 19, 2007

The 2007 season is up and running! We've had two successful nights of racing and more to come. The first Texas Cup Race of the season was, unfortunately, rained out, so the rescheduled date is July 21st.

The Nicole Reinhart Junior Cycling Classic is starting up next week (April 25-28), and we're excited to have the Canadians down for another year! You can find information on Nicole in "Race Flyers" and also "2007 Rider Packet."

As for the website, it's coming along :-) I'm working on it, piece by piece, and my next task is changing the pictures at the top of the page. I'd also like to get a photo album up with pictures from the 2007 season. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email me at cristinbikesalot@yahoo.com.

Goodluck with your season!

-Cristin Walker
